Passing through Prague

Posted on May 10, 2012

PragueA short while ago I passed through Prague, one of my favourite European cities and have two great restaurant recommendations. They are both Czech but have french influence, perhaps all these year’s living in France has really influenced my food choices!

Firstly, Apostila in the old town which has a bistro feel and serves a range of dishes including variations on classic Czech dishes in reasonable portions. Booking is recommended.

Týnská ulička 2, 110 00, Praha 1; Tel: +420 224 828 888; Email:

Secondly, under the Opera House is Francouzská restaurant which is Czech but led by French chef Jacques Auffray. It is far from the cheapest in Prague but serves delicious food in opulent surroundings and is well worth a visit. Booking is best but not always required. You could also try the cheaper Obceni restaurant next door.

Náměstí republiky 5, 110 00, Praha 1; Tel: +420 222 002 770, 784; Email:

I have also noticed that there is a Prague Food Festival at the end of May. A good excuse to visit this beautiful city
