Having been locked up for a few months and with some parental leave still to take we decided that the best tip of family bonding would be to get out from our (lovely) four walls in Los Angeles and go on a road trip. By using an RV we could be self sufficient, stay off grid and not expose ourselves to Covid, it was ideal.

On a vacation to Vancouver Island we stopped for a whirlwind visit to Vancouver. Here’s what we did/learnt in our 36 hours there. Be sure to stop at Meat & Bread for a sandwich – any of their sandwiches. We went to one at 1033 W Pender and then strolled down to Coal Harbour for a picnic […]

I was lucky enough to have a couple of days in Athens between media conferences so I managed to do a little exploring. And when I say exploring, I mostly mean eating.

When I tell people in California that I went to the Channel Islands they either ask "Where?" or say "oh, I keep meaning to go but have never been". Well people, you are missing out, the Channel Islands are stunning.

LA isn’t like other cities where people come to ‘sightsee’. Apart from Hollywood. Everyone wants to see Hollywood. So if you come to LA, here is your one-day sightseeing tour. Start at Rodeo Drive and do the Pretty Woman thing, popping into the Beverly Wilshire. For sustenance after shopping: if you’re in a hurry and […]

LA Restaurant Intel

I often write about my favourite places but as LA has such a wealth of food culture I find myself trying to go to different restaurants as much as I can. I have two go-to sources for finding restaurants: The Infatuation LA edition. This site has not yet done me wrong giving all the hotspots, favourite […]

SoCal: Palm Springs

October 19, 2017

Palm Springs is all about the hotels so make sure you choose wisely. Don’t go with the big chain hotels, pick a luxury boutique hotel or find a fantastic AirBnB. We’ve found this out through trip and error. The first time we stayed in Palm Springs we stayed at Casa Monte Vista which is one […]

SoCal: A Westside day & evening

October 18, 2017

We get our fair share of visitors from Europe, which we just love, and I’m starting to get my ‘tourist days’ sorted. Here’s our favourite Welcome to LA/Westside/Beach day out: To explore the Westside I encourage friends to rent bikes. It’s my favourite mode of transportation (and not just because I’m married to a Dutchman!). […]
